Western Reserve University
The Department of
Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve
University invites applications for a one-year visiting position, possibly
renewable. Rank is open and commensurate with qualifications, although
appointment at the rank of visiting assistant professor, visiting
instructor, or lecturer is preferred. We seek a candidate who can teach
quantitative methods at the graduate level and additional courses at the
undergraduate or graduate level in a substantive specialty area. Priority
will be given to candidates whose research and teaching skills complement
and extend the current strengths of our department: health and aging;
gender, work and family; inequality; and criminology. Faculty members also
have the opportunity to teach in our university-wide undergraduate program
of liberal education, SAGES. Case offers the student quality and class size
of a strong liberal arts college within one of the nation's major research
universities. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with
qualifications. Salary and teaching loads negotiable. Applicants must have a
Ph.D. in Sociology by the time of appointment, demonstrated teaching
experience, and a publication record appropriate to rank. For best

Green State University
The
Department of Sociology invites applications
for a senior tenure-line appointment in
adolescence or emerging adulthood (associate
or full professor) beginning August 2006.
The area of interest within adolescence or
emerging adulthood is open and may include
socialization, life course, risk behaviors,
mental health, social demography, social
welfare and policy, or adolescent
relationships. Candidates should have a
distinguished record of scholarship; an
interest in collaborative, interdisciplinary
research; well-developed teaching and
mentoring skills; and a strong record of
securing external funding. The NICHD-funded
Center for Family and Demographic Research
provides a multidisciplinary academic
environment dedicated to innovative research
on the well-being of children, youth, and
families. Candidates may have joint
appointments in Psychology or Human

Assistant Professor, Department of

Ball State University. Tenure-track
Assistant Professor position available
August 18, 2006. The Department offers
an excellent working environment with a
possible three course per semester
teaching load (most faculty members
teach two sections because classes with
more than 70 students count as two
courses), highly supportive colleagues,
and a master's program. Ball State
